Rohit Sharma for India A, KL Rahul will not open for DC & Virat Kohli needed RCB captaincy?

Everything seems to be either the Indian Premier League (IPL) or the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) these days. March 18 was no different. We heard that Virat Kohli might have had interest in becoming Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain. And that Delhi Capitals (DC) might not play KL Rahul as an opener.

In the BCCI side of things. The board seem to be conflicted regarding the selection of the India A team. Shreyas Iyer spoke on getting dropped from the 2024-25 central contract. Kapil Dev criticised them for a new policy ruling, and lastly, the date and agenda for the BCCI Apex Council meeting have been revealed.

BCCI having India A selection troubles

Preparations for the India Test tour of England have begun. The BCCI has scheduled an India A match against the England Lions and one intra-squad match before the series starts on June 20. However, they are torn regarding selections. They weren’t sure whether to field main players like Kohli and Rohit Sharma or pick domestic performers.

Virat Kohli wanted to become RCB captain?

Kohli’s former RCB teammate, AB de Villiers, reckons that the star batter was ready to lead the franchise once again. However, the management decided that they wanted to move in a different direction. He lauded Kohli for accepting the decision and is sure he’ll work well with Rajat Patidar.

KL Rahul batting position for IPL 2025

DC may move down KL Rahul from the opening spot to the middle order. The change will be made due to Faf du Plessis being made the vice-captain, which makes him a permanent opener, and Harry Brook pulling out of the IPL 2025 season, which has left a hole in the middle order.

BCCI Apex Council meeting date out

The BCCI has called an Apex Council meeting on March 22, the same day as the IPL 2025 opener, in Kolkata. The agenda of the meeting would be discussing the scheduling of the men’s 2025-26 season and the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. A decision on advertising in stadiums will be taken as well.
