If we mix the money rewards given by the BCCI and the ICC, the Indian ladies’s cricket workforce will recieve greater than Rs 90 crore after their ODI World Cup win.
Team India will take home a record-breaking prize from the International Cricket Council (ICC) after their historic triumph in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. Harmanpreet Kaur and her team made their tryst with destiny by beating South Africa in the final at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai to win India’s first-ever Women’s World Cup title.
Record ICC prize money for India
With the victory, India earned USD 4.48 million (Rs 39.78 crore), the highest prize money ever given in the history of women’s cricket. The total prize pool for the 2025 edition was USD 13.88 million (Rs 123 crore), which was a huge 297% increase from the USD 3.5 million distributed at the 2022 World Cup in New Zealand. For comparison, the total prize money for the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 in India was USD 10 million.
The winners’ share itself went up by 239%, compared to the USD 1.32 million that Australia received in 2022. Runners-up South Africa will get USD 2.24 million (Rs 19.88 crore), while the two losing semi-finalists, Australia and England, will each earn USD 1.12 million (Rs 9.94 crore).
Every team was guaranteed a minimum participation fee of USD 250,000, along with an additional USD 34,314 (approx. Rs 3.5 lakh) for each group-stage win. Unfortunately for Pakistan, they remain the only side without winning a single game in the entire tournament, as three of their games were washed out due to rain.
BCCI’s additional Rs 51 crore reward
To celebrate the historic win, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced an additional Rs 51 crore cash prize for the entire Indian contingent, including players, coaches, and support staff. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia called it a landmark gesture, saying that this moment would transform women’s cricket in India.
The prize from the BCCI, combined with the ICC’s payout, means the team will take home a total of around Rs 90 crore, an unprecedented figure in Indian women’s sport. This is a huge victory and will inspire not just female cricketers but budding men’s athletes as well. A true watershed moment in the history of Indian women’s cricket.
